5 donkeys die, 6 trapped as soil caves in at under-construction building near Jagaran Crossing

A total of six donkeys were drowned while five others got stuck in mud and water as soil from all sides caved in at an under construction building at Jagaran Crossing near Sikandarabagh Crossing on Tuesday. Fire brigade and the police team began relief operation since 8 in the morning and continued with it until evening and finally managed to save five trapped donkeys.
No human life was lost or received injuries, however, temporary accommodations of the labourers also got buried under the debris.
According to inspector Hazratganj Vijay Mall Yadav, construction of a multi-storey building has been going on for a long time. The construction work is being carried out by a private builder. On Tuesday early morning soil from all the sides caved in after heavy rains lashed the city. While the soil and water resulted in around 11 donkeys that were tied in the night by their owners after work to carry soil got over, getting trapped. However, no one could know about the incident that took place early in the morning.
It was only at around 8 am when donkey owners Hussainganj resident Satish, Jeetu, Dheeraj and Suresh came at the site that they found their donkeys getting trapped in the soil and water that had filled the basement trench.
On receiving the information, the police along with fire brigade team including rescue van of the department rushed to the spot. Initially, the firemen with the help of the labourers tried to take out the trapped donkeys, but in vain. It was then decided to pump out water through submersible pump.
Twice, the pipe attached to the pump got burst. Finally after the pipe was tied properly with the pump, the water was drained out. The whole operation took around 8 hours before the five donkey were rescued. Chief Firest Office Abhaybhan Pandey was supervising the operation.
