7 killed, 2 injured as SUV collides with truck in Kanpur Dehat

Seven persons returning from a Tilak ceremony were killed while two other received injuries when a SUV in which they were returning from Etawah collided head-on with a medium commercial vehicle in Akbarpur police station area of Kanpur Dehat late Saturday night.

According to Akbarpur police station in charge, the SUV-borne persons were returning to Fatehpur district from a tilak ceremony at Etawah.

However, no sooner than the SUV reached Shahjaadpur village, it collided with a medium weight commercial vehicle when the SUV drive made attempts to overtake. The accident was so severe that the SUV vehicle was completely damaged and seven person sitting in the vehicle were killed.
They were identified as Maan Singh (65), Shivam (18), Shivani (16), Sanjay Singh (45), Kalyan (40), Sunny (10) and Surendra Singh (65). Two others also travelling in the SUV were received severe injuries.

On receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and rushed the two injured to nearby hospital from where they were referred to Kanpur. The medium weight commercial vehicle driver fled from the spot after the accident, the police said.
