Aanganwadi workers from all over Uttar Pradesh have gathered in the state capital and demonstrated their strenght in front of Vidhan Bhawan. On Lakshman Mela ground the aanganwadi workers had come all the way from different place on the call of workers union(AWWC). On Tuesday, gradually the number of workers assembled increased at Ashok Marg and the demonstrators blocked the way and proceeded towards Vidhan Sabha shouting slogans. They started encirclement of Vidhan Sabha and couldn’t be stopped even after police appeal. Ultimately the police had to lathicharge which created a clamorous situation and the workers stone pelted on police in reply. Around 2 dozen of workers were injured in the duration. The lathicharge happened to disturb a programme going on in BJP head office and then the BJP workers also started opposing the police.
However the people faced a lot of problem due to blocked ways all over the city and the situation continues on Wednesday also. For now the AWWC agitation is still on and road from Sikanderbagh to Nishatganj, Sankalp Vatika to Hazratganj is blocked.

*Honorarium of Rs.15,000/- and Rs. 9000/- tp helpers
*Summer and winter vaccation
*Insurance of Rs. 5 lacs for workers
*Selection on vacant positions of Principal assistants
