Barabanki seer accused of making obscene videos arrested, ashram seized

An alleged seer with an ashram in Barabanki’s Deva police station area was accused of physically exploiting women who visited him in anticipation that his blessings could bear them child. Popularly known among his followers and nearby villagers as Baba Parmanand was finally caught by the Barabanki police following complaints against him.
As per the complaint, he was involved in duping gullible targets and even used to record intimate scenes with the women who used to seek his blessing in anticipation that the same would help them bearing child.
IG A Satish Ganesh told media persons that a complaint against the Baba was lodged with Deva police station on May 12. Since then, the Baba was absconding, the police said. There were some information that the Baba has allegedly fled to Nepal. However, Barabanki police kept on tracing his whereabouts.
On Monday late night, Barabanki police received a tip off that Baba along with his disciple Arvind Pathak, a resident of Maharajganj, would come to the ashram. The police then laid a trap and nabbed both the baba and his disciple. The arrested baba however, claimed that he was innocent and some anti-social elements were trying to trap him. The police in the meantime presented both the Baba and his disciple in the court which sent them to jail. The ashram has been seized.
