Bollywood filmmakers seek apology from Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihlani, want ‘Udta Punjab’ to save

Bollywood directors and filmmakers came out strongly and stand in favour of ‘Udta Punjab’ and demanded Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihlani to apologize after he accused Anurag Kashyap of taking money from the AAP to make “Udta Punjab”. Nihlani not also cut high number of scenes from the movie but also alleged Kashyap that this film may show Punjab in bad light by highlighting the drug problems.

The actors and filmmakers addressed a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday and condemned the Censor Board for asking for the deletion of any reference to Punjab in ‘Udta Punjab’ — an upcoming film on the drug issue top Bollywood directors Mahesh Bhatt, Imtiaz Ali, Satish Kaushik, Sudhir Mishra and Ramesh Taurani along with ‘Udta Punjab’ actors Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt tore into Nihalani’s defence for ordering cuts in the film. – News18 reported.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged BJP govt and tweeted on Wednesday that Nihlani stopped the film on BJP’s instructions. With Punjab due for assembly elections in January next year, the controversy has assumed political overtones.
