In a strange case of road hold up, over half-a-dozen miscreants on a high-end luxury car intercepted a truck, tried to snatch cash worth Rs 29,000, strangulated the driver and administered injection to the truck owner, the left the truck at Itaunja and fled early on Saturday morning. The deceased driver was identified as Harnam alias Gurdas, a resident of Haryana.
According to circle officer Bakshi Ka Talab Mamta Kureel, Shamli district resident Satyapal owns a truck HR 45-A-5205. On Friday, the truck after off-loading plastic granules at Unnao was going towards Varanasi. However, in Unnao district, around 7 to 8 luxury car borne miscreants intercepted the truck. The miscreants then boarded the truck and began snatching the cash kept with the driver and the truck owner Satyapal. However, their move was resisted by truck driver Harnam (60). However, the miscreants strangulated the truck driver and snatched Rs 29,000 from his possession. They even administered injection to Satyapal who fell unconcious.
The miscreants then tied their hands with a towel kept in the truck and dumped them in the truck cabin and drove the truck until Kusum ITI, Itaunja. On seeing the truck in an unclaimed position in the morning, the villagers boarded the truck to find two persons inside the cabin with their hands tied. The villagers then informed the police which rushed to spot and found Harnam dead. Since Satyapal was alive, the police rushed him to the hospital.
The police have sent Harnam’s body for the post-mortem. According to the police, Satyapal is still not in a fully concious state but until this is what he has told the police. The police are waiting for Satyapal to regain conciousness so that he could tell exactly what happened with the two. The police would then take him to the spot of the crime, SP (rural) Gopendra Yadav said.
