CM orders suspension of Gorakhpur SSP after cops beat up SP leader’s lawyer son

Taking cognisance over alleged negligence on the part of district police chief of Gorakhpur over a dispute related to a piece of land, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday placed Gorakhpur SSP Anant Deo along with three sub-inspectors under suspension. The order came after the matter came up before the CM at Janata Darshan on Wednesday.
The three S-Is were allegedly involved in beating up an advocate and SP leader Gaurav Yadav, son of Gopal Yadav, the former district chief of the Samajwadi Party.
On Monday evening, two groups related to each other clashed over land dispute across Gopalpur highway under Cantt police station area. Gaurav Yadav an advocate and SP party functionary was taken into custody following the dispute. Two persons from other group were also taken into custody.
Gaurav’s father Gopal had been Gorakhpur district president of SP in the past. Gaurav was allegedly brutally bashed up in custody. Interestingly, pictures of injured Gaurav became viral. Hundreds of people gathered at Cantt police station on Tuesday which mostly included SP workers and advocates.
Following which, the Gorakhpur SSP suspended three outpost in charges and a constable on Tuesday. However, when the matter reached before the CM, he ordered suspension of the SSP along with the circle officer Cantt.
Ram Lal Verma, who was SP intelligence Kanpur region until now, has been posted as SSP Gorakhpur in Anant Deo’s place.
