Congress new poll strategist Prashant Kishore aka ‘PK’ would be back to business in UP for four days beginning May 10. Congress has hired PK to strengthen its chances in the UP vidhan sabha election 2017. Despite being the prominent national party, Congress has gone into oblivion since late 80s.
Prashant Kishore, who is said to be behind both Prime Minster Narendra Modi’s success story in 2014 Lok Sabha and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s splendid performance in Vidhan Sabha election 2015, is now rendering its services to Congress party. After assessing Congress situation in the last around two months by holding meetings with various state level office bearers, city and district presidents, chairpersons of various frontal organisations and replying to their querries, PK would again be assessing the situation with various party leaders.
During his four-day stay in Lucknow, PK would be holding meetings with Congress block chiefs on the first day and leaders from Gorakhpur, Allahabad and Varanasi divisions in the next three days. The meetings with block chiefs on May 10 would also be attended by UP Congress in charge Madhusudan Mistri and UPCC chief Nirmal Khatri.
UP Congress communication cell chief Satyadeo Tripathi said that the May 10 meeting would be held at Gandhi Bhawan auditorium. PK besides assessing the situation at block level would also advise them how to strengthen the blocks further and work for vidhan sabha election. May 10 meeting would be followed by his meeting with Congress leaders from Allahabad, Varanasi and Gorakhpur divisions. Interestingly, team PK had visited three divisions and held meetings with Congress leaders there between April 26 and May 3. It is being believed that team PK has handed over the report of Congress situation and chances after assessing and discussing the situation with Congress leaders from these three divisions.
Come what may, road ahead for PK in Uttar Pradesh would not be a cakewalk with party remaining out of power in the state for over three decades. It would not be all the more easy for PK to uplift the sagging morale of the Congress workers in the state as factionalism and groupism too has creeped the party for the past several years.
