People of Britain voted to leave the European Union to take greater control of its economy and its borders and by this, it becomes the first country to leave the 28-nation bloc.
Moments after a divided United Kingdom voted to exit the European Union, Prime Minister David Cameron announced his resignation and called for fresh elections. Cameron said he would resign as prime minister by October. He further said the British people have voted to leave the European Union and their will must be respected, says David Cameron.
Brexit final result: Leave counts to 51.9%, against remain 48.1%. The final results were announced at the Manchester Town Hall. A record 46.5 million people registered to vote.
However, EU leaders have warned Britain that there would be no turning back from a vote to quit.
