A 9-year-old girl was mowed down by a dumper while six villagers received burn injuries when protesting against the girl child’s death, they tried to set on fire another dumper. Earlier, the villagers had set on fire the dumper which allegedly mowed down the girl child. The incident took place in Kakori police station area.
According to Circle Officer Javed Khan of Malihabad police circle, Shamshad, his wife and 9-year-old girl Muskan had returned home from some relative’s house on Tuesday. After alighting the tempo, the three were crossing the road when a dumper coming from other side crushed the girl to death on the spot. The dumper driver fled the spot.
However, when the news spread in the village, they began assembling at the spot and started protesting against dumper driver’s alleged callousness. Enraged over the innocent girl’s death, the villagers set on fire the dumper that led to the child’s death. On receiving the information, police force from several police stations was rushed to spot. Even when the police was trying to pacify the crowd, one more dumper which was going from the area was stopped by angry villagers. The villagers’ mob broke the diesel tank of the dumper tried to set it on fire. However, the fire spread on the spilled over diesel and it subsequently engulfed a few villagers. A fire brigade vehicle present on the spot some how managed to douse the fire. The injured villagers were rushed to the nearby hospitals. Later the police managed to pacify the villagers and sent the body for the post-mortem examination.
