All the doubts about the cause of death of a B.Comm third year student in Hasanganj area on August 15 were cleared out when his autopsy report on Friday revealed that he was strangled to death and had not committed suicide. The 22 year-old student of National P.G. College was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented room in the Baraulia area in Hasanganj.
According to SP Trans-Gomti (TG) Jaiprakash Yadav, the deceased man, whose name is Saurabh, is a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkarnagar district and used to live in Lucknow for studies. He used to live in the rented room along with a friend named Sharad.
On the fateful night of August 15, Saurabh’s dead body was found hanging from the ceiling of his room by Sharad. The deceased’s room-partner immediately informed the police about the death of his friend.
Police reached the spot and Saurabh’s body was brought down and sent for a post-mortem. Initial investigations indicated that the B.Comm student had committed suicide, though, no suicide note was found at the spot.
Meanwhile on Friday, the report of the autopsy done on Saurabh’s dead body was handed to the police. The report clearly stated that the man was first strangled to death and later his body was hanged from the ceiling to make it look like a suicide. Interestingly, it also had a mention of the injury marks close to the victim’s eyes and on his head.
The Hasanganj police, based on the revelations made by Saurabh’s autopsy report, later on the day registered a case of murder and hiding evidence. The family members of the deceased also held talks with the officials at Hasanganj police station and did not raise suspicion on anyone who could have killed Saurabh.
SP TG Yadav said that the police are investigating the motive behind the murder of the 22 year-old graduation student and people who carried out the heinous crime. Call records of Saurabh’s mobile phone number are being thoroughly investigated and his room partner Sharad grilled again by the police to find a lead in the murder case.
