Yet again putting a question mark on the prevailing law and order situation in the state, fearless miscreants used AK-47 rifle to gun down a police constable and a BDC member in Janpur district on Monday. Miscreants opened 30 to 35 rounds fire killing both the BDC member Radhey Shyam (30), a resident of Bhulandeeh village and police constable Pankaj.
The incident created so much panic in the area that none could muster courage to come close to the slained BDC member and the police constable. According to DGP office, Radhey Shyam along with the police constable was going somewhere on his four-wheeler. Near Chandwak area, two motorcycle-borne five miscreants intercepted the BDC member’s car and opened indiscriminate firing killing Radhey Shyam on the spot. The constable did run some distance to escape broad daylight firing before falling on the ground.
The firing incident did create panic in the area. The villagers soon reached the spot and even tried to block Varanasi highway. On hearing about the broad daylight murder, senior police officials including DIG range, SP Jaunpur and others police officials rushed to the spot.
After initial investigation, the police sent the bodies for the post-mortem.
According to the police, Radhey Shaym was booked in over 20 cases. Interestingly, the police constable Pankaj was posted at Bansdeeh police station in Ballia, however, ever since he came on leave for two days, Pankaj has been absent without any information since then.
