The boom in the online marketing trend brought doom to his flourising laptop retail business at Varanasi. This enraged him to the extent that he decided to take revenge with the online companies and began targetting their couriered goods. Son of a jeweller family, Ashish a resident of Ghazipur’s Mohammadabad locality, turned into a professional robber, who along with his friend Dheeraj Srivastava, also a resident of Ghazipur, got involved in robbing these online companies of goods from various place in the country.
Lucknow police was on a lookout for two robbers, who had robbed a courier agent Faizal Khan of three I-phones and other valuables when the agent had come to deliver the ordered goods at the said address in Ashiana police station area. According to station officer Ashiana Santosh Tiwari, Faizal Khan works with JVS Courier company as an agent. On March 3, Faizal had come to the house of one Amit Agrawal at Sector E, Ashiana to deliver three I-phones ordered on the address. However, Faizal found the house locked and called up on the number made available during the booking of the order. The youth on the other side of the line asked Faizal to come to Sector S house to deliver the goods. No sooner than Faizal reached at the house, a youth came from behind and put a rope on his neck tightening his noose while another youth hit him by a rod on his head. Faizal became unconcious. After some time, when Faizal regain consciousness, he found three I-phones and other valuables missing from his possession. An FIR of robbery was lodged at Ashiana police station.
The police with the help of surveillance came to know about a youth from Ghazipur with the name Ashish Kumar Verma. On Saturday night, Ashiana police finally nabbed him and his friend Dheeraj. During the course of interrogation, both confessed to have robbed Faizal of three I-phones and other valuables. The police have recoverd three I-phones and one more mobile phone of another company from their possession.
Ashish and his friend Dheeraj until the investigation so far have been found to have been involved in robbing valuables of these online companies by targetting courier delivery man at Kanpur, Jaipur, Gurgaon, Varanasi and Agra.
Ashish also revealed before the police that he used to ordered for valuables from the online companies on some fake address and name. Whenever, the courier boy used to contact Ashish on phone for delivery of goods, he along with his friend Dheeraj used to call the courier boy to some secluded spot and used to rob the courier boys of valuables and used to flee away.
