Four persons including a sub-inspector were killed when two clashing groups exchanged fire over a property dispute in Allahabad district. The incident led to panic in the area as several rounds of fire were heard in the village when two groups clashed with each other.
IG Allahabad RK Chaturvedi said that sub-inspector Suresh Pandey was a resident of Ekauni village of Kaudhiyaar locality. Pandey was presentlhy posted in Kanpur district and had come home on leave.
According to reports, Pandey had a dispute with some of his distant relatives over a temple property. On Sunday, the S-I was getting some construction work done on the said land. Meanwhile, the opposite party came to know about the construction and began protesting against S-I’s move. Soon, the situation turned for the worse as the S-I opened fire from his licensed rifle. The opposite party also whipped out weapons and began firing.
Several rounds were fired from both the sides. The incident created panic in the village and people confined themselves to their residences. Both groups exchanged fire for around 30 minutes.
According to IG zone, Pandey along with three others received bullet injuries that led to their death while two others received injuries. On receiving the information, the police force rushed to the village and sent the injured to the hospital. At the moment, the situation is tense in the village. Until now, no one has been arrested nor any FIR has been lodged in the incident, Chaturvedi said and added FIR would be lodged as per the complaint from both the parties.
