Seven people lost their lives in a major road accident in Ambedkarnagar district on Saturday morning. The victims were riding in a SUV and were transporting a patient, who was in serious condition, to Lucknow from a village in the district for treatment.
The Scorpio car on which a total of nine people were riding hit a tractor-trolley when it reached near the Kurki Bazar area in Sammanpur. Seven people were killed on the spot, while two other were injured.
According to the information provided by Ambedkarnagar police, Haji Vakil Ahmad, who is a resident of Narigaoin village in Jahangirganj, fell sick late Friday. Haji’s family members seeing his deteriorating condition decided to take him to Lucknow for treatment.
A total of nine people, including Vakil Ahmad, left his house in Narigaon village in a Scorpio car early Saturday for Lucknow. When their vehicle crossed a government school located in Sammanpur’s Kurki Bazar area a tractor-trolley appeared in front of it suddenly.
The driver of the SUV couldn’t control the vehicle and rammed it into the tractor-trolley. After the crash, six people died on the spot, while three others were rushed to a nearby hospital by the policemen, who reached there immediately. One of the injured succumbed to his injuries and died on reaching the hospital, while the other two were told to be taken to Azamgarh district for treatment, police officials said.
