Imposing as SP chief Mulayam’s Pvt secretary, two men try to dupe SP MLA

Cyber Cell of Lucknow police nabbed two imposters who posed themselves as private secretary to Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and made a bid to dupe an SP MLA. Their arrest was made after an FIR was lodged by the son of SP MLA from Dharauna at Hazratganj police station. The police have also recovered an audio clip from the possession of the two fraudsters.
According to SP (east) Shivram Yadav, on June 29, a call from the mobile number 9161187506 was made on the phone of Jyotiba Phule Nagar’s Dharauna MLA M Chandra. The caller identified himself as Mulayam Singh Yadav’s private secretary and said that “Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav is popularly known)” has called him to Lucknow.
Assuming that it was the private secretary of the SP chief, the MLA expressed his inability to come to Lucknow as he was ill. The MLA then called up his son Kapil in Lucknow and asked him to call on the number from which the fraudsters made the call assuming that it was SP chief’s private secretary’s call.
When Kapil called up on the number, the fraudsters said that there was no need to come to Lucknow. However, the fraudsters told him to deposite Rs 6,500 in Neelam’s account at Allahabad Bank. Getting suspicious, Kapil then called up Mulayam Singh’s private secretary Arvind Singh, who denied making any call. Thereafter, the fraudsters switched off the mobile. On July 1, Kapil lodged an FIR with Hazratganj police, which began investigation into the matter.
The police team then nabbed Ajay Kumar Misra and Ankesh Kumar from Amethi with the help of surveillance. The police have also recovered an audio clip from their possession. The matter was being investigated, the police said.
