In joint operation, UP STF in collaboration with Mumbai Crime Branch nabbed a member of international drug smuggling gang from Gorakhpur on Monday. The member was identified as Jai Mukhi, who is claimed by the UP STF to be a member of drug mafia Vikki Goswami.
Goswami has his den presently in Kenya. According to SSP STF Amit Pathak, on April 12, anti-narcotic cell of Mumbai Crime Branch had nabbed two persons with illegal drugs. After this, 7 more persons were arrested from different places and illegal drugs worth 2300 tonnes were recovered in total from their possessions.
During the course of interrogation and investigation, the Mumbai crime branch came to know that all the arrested men were working for drug mafia Vikki Goswami, his aides Kishore Rathore, Sushil Kumar and Jai Mukhi. During further investigation, Mumbai crime branch came to know that Jai Mukhi was hiding on Indo-Nepal border. After receiving this tip-off, Mumbai Crime Branch sought help of UP STF which swung into action and jointly nabbed Jai Mukhi from Gorakhpur railway station.
Mukhi was planning to flee to Nepal, Pathak said.
During the course of interrogation, Mukhi told the police that he runs a company by the name of Khusbu Daicam in Mumbai. In the name of supplying raw material to a pharmaceutical company A-One Life Sciences, Mukhi used to illegally supply Afedrin drugs. A huge quantity of illegal drugs had been recovered from the said company earlier also. Mukhi was changing location to Nepal and Gorakhpur to hide from the police. All India look out notice had also been issued against Mukhi, who according to STF had met drug mafia Vikki Goswami in Kenya in January, 2016.
