Bodies of a lover couple were found on a railway track in Gosainganj area on Friday. The couple had been missing from Thursday. Police said that they jumped in front of train and died, but villagers suspect it to be a case of honour killing.
Circle Officer Mohanlalganj told media persons that a 20-year old young man, Sanjay Rawat, was a resident of Sinhatha village in Gosainganj. He had an affair with an 18-year old girl, Priti, daughter of Jagdish, a resident of the same village.
They wanted to marry each other but families both Sanjay and Priti refused to accept the relationship. According to police, late on Thursday night, both left home together and could not be traced till late night. However, on Friday morning, their bodies were found in mutilated condition on Kabirpur railway crossing. When villagers woke up in the morning, they saw their bodies and informed the police.
Gosainganj police reached the spot after receiving the information. Police called local people and in the meantime, couples’ family members also reached the spot. Family of the two identified the couple as Sanjay and Priti. Police have sent the bodies for the post-mortem after investigation.
CO Mohanlalganj told media persons that the pieces of bodies were scattered on the railway track which hinted that they might have jumped in front of a train. However, the exact reason of their death is being ascertained. A few of villagers suspect it to be a case of honour killing, but police have denied it.
