Make immunisation mandatory, Human Right panel asks

In a recent activity Human Rights Commission of Kerala has ordered the state government to make immunisation mandatory for getting admissions in educational institutions.

The direction assumes significance as it came in the wake of the return of diptheria, a disease believed to be completely eradicated from Kerala through vaccinations, but in the northern district of Malappuram due to lack of proper immunisation two children have died and eight effected in last one month. In Malappuram a section of people are reportedly reluctant to undergo immunisation drives, according to health department sources.
