A 24-year-old IT professional was allegedly hacked to death in broad daylight at the Nungambakkam railway station in Chennai on Friday morning. The lady was identified as Swathi who worked in Infosys, an IT giant.
According to police, the victim Swathi was a resident of South Gangai Amman Koil Street, Choolaimedu. She was waiting at platform number 2 of the railway station to board a train to work. Sources at the railway station said a man approached her as she was waiting, and soon, an argument broke out between them. Subsequently he took out a sharp weapon and hacked her to death. – The Hindu reported.
The incident occurred around 6:30 am when she was waiting to board the suburban train for her workplace in Mahindra Tech City.
However, the railway police have registered a case and are investigating. The police is speaking to the victim’s family and friends to gather more clues about the attacker.
Infosys described the incident as “unfortunate” and said it was cooperating with investigating officials.
