In a sensational incident, two motorcycle-borne miscreants robbed Rs 20 lakhs from a security agency proprietor near Rajbhawan here on Thursday. His supervisor was also with him and was driving scooter at the time of the incident.
Even though the police doubt the security agency proprietor’s version, have begun investigation into the incident.
After the incident, robbers fled towards the Bandariya Bagh crossing. Victims even chased the miscreants but in vain. Police are now looking for the CCTV footages installed at various points to ascertain the identity of the miscreants and verify the incident.
Surprisingly this is not the first incident to have taken place near Rajbhawan. Earlier, also an incident of loot had taken place. According to police, Sushant Golf City resident Pankaj Misra is the owner of the Raman Security agency, and has an office on Park Road at Saran Chambers 2.
At around 12.30pm, Pankaj along with his supervisor Diwakar Singh, a resident of Neelmattha, had gone to withdraw money from HDFC near Pratibha Cinema Hall. After withdrawing Rs 20 lakh from the bank, the two left for their office on the scooter. Diwakar was driving the scooter.
No sooner they had crossed the PWD office, two miscreants came from behind and snatched the bag containing the money and fled towards Bandariya Bagh Crossing. The victims even chased the miscreants but in vain.
The two then informed the modern control room. Hazratganj station in charge and a team of crime branch reached the spot and began the investigation into the incident. Police is now scanning the CCTV footage to verify the incident.
Citing reason for suspecting the loot theory, inspector Hazratganj said that both Pankaj and Diwakar were giving contradictory statements. While Pankaj said that the loot took place in front of Axis Bank, Diwakar insisted that the incident took place in front of the PWD office. The police also expressed surprise over the fact that despite the miscreants robbing Pankaj of the bag and a laptop on a moving two-wheeler, how Diwakar didn’t lose balance and the vehicle remained stable.
The police however, are investigating the incident.
