In the wee hours Tuesday, about 8 men carrying weapons looted cash whooping Rs 12 crore from an ATM cash van near Thane. The miscreants covered their face with masks.
According to the reports, the incident took place in between 3 am to 5 am when the employees of a security service firm at the office were preparing the van for cash transit and in the meantime, the miscreants reached there looted the cash and even CCTV camera and fled away. The company, which works with banks on a contractual basis, is responsible for transporting and re-filling the cash at various ATMs across the city.
A police official said, “We will register a case of armed dacoity under the Indian Penal Code and have instructed the Crime Branch to look into the case. We are investigating the case further.”
