Missing cycle shop owner found murdered, body recovered from sewer line

A cycle shop owner, who went missing on April 30, was found murdered with his body found in a sack thrown in a sewer line near Aurangabad area of Ashiana police station area on Friday.

The cycle shop owner was identified as Gurpeet Singh, a resident of Rajnikhand in Ashiana area.
Police recovered the body of deceased after the interrogation of Singh’s friend Amit, a resident of Sector D, Ashiana, said Circle Officer Cantt Harendra Yadav.
According to the circle officer, after Singh had gone missing on April 30, his family members launched frantic search but in vain. Unable to locate him anywhere, they then lodged an FIR of missing with Ashiana police on May 2.
Working on the case with the help of surveillance, police found role of Gurpeet’s friend Amit suspicious. On Friday night police picked up Amit and grilled him. After a long session Amit confessed that he murdered Gurpeet over an illicit relationship and dumped his body in sewer line in Aurangabad locality.
After Amit’s confession, the police recovered the body of Gurpeet. Interrogation of Amit is still on, Ashiana station officer Santosh Tiwari said and added the sequence of incident will be further cleared on Saturday.
