Member of Rajya Sabha and former cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar aided a 51-year-old school at tribal village in West Bengal by donating Rs 76 lakh. Sachin denoted the fund for its renovation and upgradation through the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD).
Staff of the school in West Midnapore district of West Bengal had written to Tendulkar, seeking financial aid two years ago. The school received the funds last financial year, according to a report in the Hindustan Times.
Tendulkar’s gesture left short of words to express their gratitude at receiving the donation. “The realisation hasn’t yet sunk in. We have no words to express our gratitude,” headmaster of the school, Uttamkumar Mohanty told Hindustan Times.
Mohanty planned to write to the MP to be present at the school when the staff unveils the new infrastructure.
