A 25-year-old City Law College first year student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in Chinhat police station area on Thursday. The boy’s right had name of some girl by making deep cuts presumably by blade.
Though no suicide note was found, the police suspect it to be a case of love affair.
The boy was identified as Neeraj Rai, son of Madan Rai, a farmer and a native of Ballia district station in charge Suresh Yadav said.
Neeraj was studying at City Law College and was living in a private hostel at Bharatpuram locality in Tiwariganj area of Chinhat.
On Thursday afternoon, hostel caretaker Shailendra Singh sensed some foul play as he could not spot Neeraj until afternoon. He went to see Neeraj and peeped inside the room through the cooler window to find Neeraj hanging by a bed sheet.
Shailendra immediately informed the police, which rushed to the spot and sent the body for post mortem examination.
During the course of investigation, the police found Neeraj’s mobile phone which had last call mentioned at around 2pm. This has led the police to conclude that Neeraj committed suicide only after 2pm. The police have informed his family members.
