Residents may not have to run from pillar to post to get FIRs lodged. In a step towards smart policing, on-the-spot FIR will be a reality in the city. As soon as the victim or the complainant would dial 100, police would come inquiring to the spot and lodge the FIR then and there. The complainant would have to go to the police station only to collect the copy of the first information report (FIR) later. Trans-Gomti parts of the city would be the first to make a switch-over.
It’s an initiative of modern control room. The vehicles of MCR will be equipped with FIR register. As many as 15 vehicles that patrol trans-Gomti parts of the city have been given the FIR registers. As soon as MCR gets the information about vehicle theft, the patrolling vehicle will reach the spot and fill-up the FIR form, the complainant will have to give his written complaint on a plain paper. The complainant will be given a receipt.
His FIR would be registered then and there and moved to the concerned police station. He can collect it, as and when convenient, from the concerned police station after showing the receipt.
