Two students killed as groups clash, exchange fire in AMU

Two students were killed when two groups of students clashed and exchanged fire in the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University late on Saturday night. The students even set on fire a few vehicles at proctor’s office. Police rushed to the campus and somehow managed to brought the situation under control. A heavy police force has been deployed on the campus.

According to SP city Anshul Gupta, a student name Mohsin was beaten up by students of another group at Mumtaz Hostel of Aaftab Hall. The matter then reached proctor office. It was at proctor’s office that both groups again clashed and opened fire on each other.

In the ensuring firing, bullets hit an expelled student and Ghazipur resident Mahtab and a student Waqif. However, the clashes further intensified. The students even set on fire proctor’s office and a few vehicles.

The two students were rushed to the medical college, where Mahtab succmbed to his injuries on Sunday morning, while another student succumbed to his injuries late in the day. The police force has been deployed. The police are yet to ascertain the cause of the clash even though the reports are that the clashes were the fallout of battle for supremacy.
