The CPI(M) on Friday chosen Pinarayi Vijayan (72) as the next chief minister of Kerala on Friday over veteran VS Achuthanandan who led the campaign.
92-year old Achuthanandan was also in the race for the post OF CM but the party gave preference to Vijayan. The rivalry between Achuthanandan and Pinarayi dates back to two decades. Both used every opportunity to discredit each other. So, the party remained it secret to reveal the name of final candidate as CM to avoid any dispute between the two.
