A 30-year old son of an inspector appointed at the Human Rights Commission tried to shoot and kill himself with his father’s official pistol at his residence in Triveni Nagar, Aliganj. The fired bullet penetrated the man’s stomach and he is currently undergoing treatment at the trauma centre.
Police said that the man was trying to kill himself because of a failed love affair.
Om Prakash Shukla, inspector at the Human Rights Commission, lives in Triveni Nagar with his family. On Sunday evening, his 30 year old son Abhinav shot himself with his official pistol.
The sound of the gunshot alarmed Abhinav’s family members and when they entered his room they found him lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
Abhinav was immediately taken to the trauma centre for treatment, Station Officer Kamlapati Yadav told reporters.
Inspector Om Prakash reported the incident to Aliganj police late at night about his son’s suicide attempt. SO Yadav said that the 30 year old man tried to kill himself because his family was not ready to accept the girl he wanted to marry. Doctors say that Abhinav is currently out of danger and is recovering well.
