Heavy police force deployed
Lucknow – An Incident of eve teasing led to heavy clashes between people of two communities in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district late Sunday. Stone pelting and furore from members of both the communities injured nearly half a dozen people. Authorities said that amid the communal tensions, heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
The eve-teasing incident occurred when some girls, residents of Dargah Sharif’s Kaazi Katra of Bahraich city, were returning home from dance classes on Sunday evening when some local men started harassing them and passed lewd comments.
After returning home, the girls narrated the incident to their families. In a state of anger, the families reached the homes of the culprits. The scene soon turned ugly and both the families started hurling abuses and started fighting. In no time, the clash between the members of two families led to stampede and heavy stone pelting.
More than half a dozen people were reportedly injured in the incident. The police force rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. Following the clashes, the miscreants from one of the community involved in Sunday clashes also attacked a place of worship in the area.
The attack on the worship site was said to be instigated by senior members of the community. Considering the communal tension in the area, heavy police force have been deployed. No complaint or FIR has been registered.
