Alleged dispute over kite flying during Eid cost a 27-year-old Zardogi work owner his life when unidentified miscreants shot him dead after calling him by giving a call at the backyard of his house in Thakurganj police station area late on Monday night. The zardogi work owner was identified as Salman, a native of Kanpur residing in a rented house in Baba Hazarabagh locality in Thakurganj police station area.
The police have taken two youths in custody after the family members expressed doubt over three youths as they had a dispute with Salman over kite flying during Eid.
According to reports, Salman had left his house at around 9pm on Monday night for some work and returned home some time later. However, at around 12 midnight after receiving a call on his mobile phone, he went at the backside of his house. There he was waylaided by miscreants who shot him at with bullet hitting him on his head.
The miscreants then fled the area.
On hearing the gunshot, locals came out to see Salman lying in a pool of blood. Since he was alive at the time, they immediately informed the other family members of Salman. The Thakurganj police also rushed to the spot. The police rushed Salman to Trauma Centre, where he was declared dead on Tuesday morning.
Salman lives in the locality with his father, mother and two brothers. Suspecting the role of Hazarabagh resident Rafi, Saadatganj resident Raju and Newaganj resident Hrithik, the family members named them behind the murder. The police then took Raju and Hrithik and custody, however, Rafi was said to be absconding.
According to the family members Salman had a dispute with the three over kite flying during Eid festival. The police are now trying to ascertain the identity of the person who gave Salman a call to come in the backyard of the house on Monday night with the help of Surveillance.
