Thakurganj police on Monday busted a fake pan masala and gutkha manufacturing factory running in a house on ring road and arrested 6 people. The police have recovered ready material, wrappers of various companies, packing machine and other items from the accused. SP West, Sarvesh Kumar told media persons that on Monday itself the police had received information about fake pan masala and gutkha manufacturing factory being run in a house on Ring Road. On this tip-off information, team of Thakurganj police raided Mohd Raees’ house at Baraura Husainbadi. The raid resulted into arrest of 6 persons present on the spot and recovery of Rs 60,000/- cash, pouch packing machine, Rajshri pan masala in 2 cartons, Kamla pasand masala in 3 cartons, wrappers of Royal in 3 cartons, 6 sacks with ready material, 10 sacks with old wrappers of Rajshri, Kamla Pasand and Royal pan masalas, 6 bundles of ready Kamla pasand and Royal pan masala, electronic balance and other equipment.
The accused were identified as Thakurganj residents Pervez. Naushad, Nandan and Mohd Raees , Talkatora resident Mohit and Sahadatganj resident Vikas. However, the house where the fake factory was running was owned by Mohd Raees. The accused also revealed that they used to bring raw material and empty wrappers from Naubasta in Kanpur. After which it was adulterated, filled into empty wrappers and sold as original pan masalas in the market. The case has been lodged under forgery and copy right Act by Thakurganj police.
