A B.Tech student of a private engineering college in Lucknow ended his life on Saturday due to the ongoing financial crisis in his family. The 20 year-old man, nephew of a vice-chairman of a co-operative sugar mill, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room at a guest house in the city’s Gomatinagar area.
Police found a suicide note inside the man’s room, in which he had said that he was taking the extreme step and ending his life due to the ongoing financial crisis in his family. The money crunch might have created problems for the B.tech first year student, who was a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district, to continue his studies in the state capital.
According to the information provided by SO Gomatinagar Dhirendra Shukla, 20 year-old Hrishikesh Singh, who was pursuing his B.Tech course from a private engineering college located in Lucknow’s Janakipuram area, used to stay in a room at the Sugar Mill Guest House near the Mithai wala intersection.
One of Hrishikesh’s cousin, who also used to stay in the same guest house but in an another room, on Saturday morning tried to wake him up by knocking at his door. After getting no response from the inside, he raised an alarm and called the employees of the guest house for help.
The door was opened forcefully and Singh’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan through a piece of cloth by his cousin brother inside the room, SO Shukla said. The police were immediately informed about the suicide of a B.Tech student in Gomatinagar.
They reached the spot and after investigations found a suicide note written by the victim inside the room. According to the police, Hrishikesh in his suicide note had stated that the financial crisis in his family had forced him to take this extreme step. Later, SO Shukla, while confirming that the student’s dead body has been sent for a post-mortem, said that his uncle holds the position of a vice-chairman in a co-operative sugar mill in Ballia.
