Lucknow police on Sunday claimed that robbery at the house of DFO on August 27 was the handiwork of Bawariya gang. Vibhutikhand police with the help of STF sleuths nabbed 3 members of the gang. However, 4 other members and 8 women managed to flee. However, the 12 others were finally nabbed by Malihabad police later. The police claim to have recovered cash worth Rs 2,33,500 and robber valuables including jewellery, three luxury vehicles and around a dozen mobile phones.
According to the police, the gang besides committing robbery at DFO’s house also committed similar crimes twice in Malihabad area. According to SSP Manzil Saini, STF with the help of surveillance came to know the location of some criminals at Faizabad and Lucknow.
The arrested 8 women have children between the age of 3 and 7 years. According to the police, all the women would be sent to jail with their children.

Arms-wielding robbers had struck at a divisional forest officer’s house on the intervening night of last Saturday and Sunday on August 27, made family members hostage and fled with cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. The incident took place at Tony locality of Vijay Khand in Vibhuti Khand police station area of Gomtinagar.
What came as a shock that the robbers remained in the house of the DFO for two hours before fleeing with valuables. Since all the family members were tied in one room, the DFO Ashok Kumar Shukla, who is posted at Ambedkarnagar and resides at C 2-35, Vijay Khand, managed to free himself and then informed the police.
Senior police officials including SSP Manzil Saini along with crime branch sleuths and dog squad had rushed to the spot and began investigation into the incident.
According to initial information, four persons were caught by Vibhuti Khand police while others had fled but were finally caught by Malihabad police.
The DFO and his family members had even resisted the robbers’ attempt however in vain. The robbers then took jewellery worth Rs 3 to 4 lakh kept in the house and cash worth around Rs 25,000. Thereafter, the robbers locked the DFO in the basement, Nisha in bathroom, Prarth on the first floor and Hariram and Neha on ground floor. The robbers took mobile phones of the family members in their possession and fled the spot.
The DFO had somehow freed himself and then freed other family members and informed the police on control room. Senior police officials including DIG RKS Rathore, SSP Manzil Saini, SP North Vijay Dhul, SP Crime Dr Sanjay Kumar and CO Satyasen Yadav rushed to the spot and began investigation into the incident.
