Jankipuram police on Sunday finally arrested the alleged killer of Puja, a 22-year-old girl near St Mary’s School at Sector 3, Jankipuram. The arrested youth was identified as Sumit, who out of one sided love with the girl, had shot her dead after calling her at his home. The police have also arrested Sumit’s mother Urmila after Puja’s mother Yasmin lodged an FIR against the mother and son for killing her daughter.
According to SP (trans-gomti) Jaiprakash, the police arrested Sumit who admitted to have killed Puja as he was in love with her. The police have also recovered the country-made pistol used in the crime. On Saturday afternoon, Sumit had called Puja after some heated exchange of words with her, he allegedly opened fire on her. Bleeding Puja was rushed to Trauma Centre where doctors later declared her dead. Sumit had fled the spot after committing the crime.
Sumit’s mother was already detained and on Sunday was nabbed along with Sumit.
