Alleged dispute over kite flying during Eid cost a 27-year-old Zardogi work owner his life when
Rafi, an accused in the killing of Zardozi kaarkhana (workshop) owner Salman in Lucknow’s Thakurganj area, surrendered in the court on Wednesday. Rafi will now be sent to police remand for investigations. One more major arrest has already been made in the murder case during previous investigations which helped the police solve the case, officials said.
Early on the fateful night of July 25, Salman, a resident of Baba Hazara Bagh, was shot near the Rahim Baksh kothi in the areas by a revolver. Family members of the deceased owner of a Zardozi workshop lodged a FIR against Rafi, Raju and Hrithik at the Thakurganj police station.
According to SP West Sarvesh Mishra, the police force picked up Raju and Hrithik for interrogation. Rafi could not be arrested as he has been absconding, the SP said. No substantial evidence was found during investigations that could prove the involvement of Raju and Hrithik in Salman’s killing, he added.
Last Friday, Thakurganj police made a major breakthrough in the case when they picked up a man named Najib from the Ghasmandi area. Najib was arrested carrying the revolver which was used to commit the crime.
On being interrogated, the arrested man confessed killing Salman and stated the motive behind the crime as revenge. He also informed the police about Rafi’s involvement in the murder. He said that he, along with Rafi, killed Salman because the latter had thrashed him at the Babu hotel one year ago.
Salman was shot late night on July 25 and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Rafi will soon be sent to police remand, SP Thakurganj Samar Bahadur Yadav said.
