Posting an advertisement to sell a car on OLX cost a businessman his four-wheeler when burglars after looking at the ad approached him and fled with the car in the name of going for a test drive. The incident took place at Thakurganj police station area. Interestingly, the robbers had come on stolen motorcycle which they left it at the spot before fleeing with the car.
A case was registered with Thakurganj police station on the complaint of the trader.
Mohammad Ameen runs an atuomobile shop on Hardoi Road near White Mosque. Sometimes back, he had posted the ad to sell his car on the famous online sale and purchase website. On Tuesday evening, two persons after seeing the advertisement approached Mohammad Ameen and showed interest in purchasing his car.
They asked the trader for a test drive of the car. The trader send his friends brother with the duo for a test drive. After travelling some distance, the duo told the brother of Ameen’s friend that they were not able to drive the car and asked him to drive it. The moment Ameen’s friend brother alighted the car, the miscreants fled with the car. Ameen friend’s brother immediately informed him about the incident. Ameen then informed the police control room. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and began investigation.
The police took the motorcycle of the miscreants in its custody.
The police registered a case of fraud and robbery.
The police have found that the two-wheelers on which they had come was also a lifted one that has made the work to trace the miscreants difficult. Station Officer Thakurganj Samar Bahadur Yadav said that efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the miscreants on the basis of information provided by the trader. This is first such case when miscreants used an online sale and purchase website to rob a person, the SO said.
