In a shocking incident, Madgaon-Nizamuddin Rajdhani train ran without a driver for 15 kilometres on Monday. Reportedly, train engine developed a snag. Though technicians tried to fix the problem, the train started moving.
According to unconfirmed reports, the train engine developed a fault and stopped inside a long tunnel around 5.50 pm near the Ratnagiri station. The driver of the train was in the Guard’s cabin at that time and was able to jump up on the engine after the train slowed down near an upward incline. – Hindustantimes reported.
The report suggests that vacuum brake of the engine broke down, resulting in moving of the train on a downward slope. Later, when the train slowed down near an upward incline, the driver went back into the engine and finally stopped the train. Soon, the engine was replaced and the train was taken to Chiplun, the next station.
However, no casualty or loss of life has been reported. An inquiry has been ordered.
