Traffic stopped after flyover at Polytechnic Crossing develops cracks

Cracks as wide as five-feet on a few-year-old flyover at Polytechnic Crossing forced the police and district administration to close the movement on the bridge on Thursday afternoon. As of now, the traffic police is ensuring traffic movement from beneadth the bridge leading to heavy traffic jam on the crossing. The DM has ordered constitution of a committee to probe into the reason behind why cracked developed.
The DM has also ordered the Public Works Department to immediately solve the cracks.
Passers-by first spotted the cracks on the bridge from Faizabad Road side to Munshipuliya side, who then informed the police outpost about the cracks. Senior officials including ADM (trans-gomti) Ashok Kumar was also informed about the incident, who subsequently apprised the District Magistrate Rajshekhar. The traffic from this side of flyover ws diverted from under the flyover while the traffic was normal from the other side.
On receiving the information, police informed the senior officials, Station in charge Sudhakar Pandey said.
The cracks were so deep that the iron net placed on slab began to be visible.
The traffic would remain close until the repair work of the flyover is complete.
