In a latest development, the two-executive committee meeting scheduled to be held on July 16 and 17 at Jhansi has been cancelled. BJP spokesperson Harish Srivastava confirmed the cancellation of the working panel meet.
Even though no reasons were cited, party insiders said that the UP BJP think-tanks inability to declare the working committee members without whom, there would have been no meaning to working committee meeting. has forced the cancellation of the two-day meet.
However, a section of BJP leaders also believed that the two-day meet was cancelled due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Gorakhpur on July 22 to re-launch the fertiliser factory and lay foundation stone for AIIMS.
According to the party leaders, Gorakhpur region workers had been requesting for the past a few days that since this would be first state working panel meet with UP BJP chief as Keshav Prasad Maurya and newly appointed office-bearers, they would also like to participate. However, owing to the PM’s programme, the workers from the region were not in a position to attend Jhansi meet, hence the UP BJP leadership acceded to their demands and cancelled the Jhansi meet.
However, the question arises as to who all from Gorakhpur region would have participated in the meet as the UP BJP leadership has failed to declare the working committee and not many might be knowing who would make it to the panel.
The party has not announced any new date for the two day meet.
Earlier, the two day meet was scheduled at Moradabad. However, the same was changed after by election at mayoral poll was announced.
