The ‘world’s heaviest baby girl’ was born on Monday at Hassan in Karnataka. The unnamed baby girl, born to a 19-year-old woman, weighs 6.8 kg, which is almost the same as an average six-month-old. Her mother, Nandini, was astonished by the size of her first child when she was born.
The local health officer Dr Venkatesh Raju says she is not the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world. According to Raju, he has never seen such a heaviest baby in his 25 years of experience.
Currently, the record for the heaviest baby born is held by a baby boy who weighed 10.3 kg and was born in Italy in 1955.
